Pre-Surgical Instructions
1. You will be given several medications which will include but may not be limited to the following:
- Antibiotic – take prescription as advised by Dr. Hollander
- Anti-inflammatory – take one pill 1 hour prior to surgery
- Pain medication – as needed for pain after surgery
- Sedative – take 1-2 pills (as previously described by our office) 1 hour before appointment time.
The remainder of your medication instructions are given to you at the conclusion of your surgery.
2. Please wear warm comfortable clothing.
3. Prepare yourself for a soft diet (i.e. yogurt, cottage cheese, protein drinks, hardy soups etc.). The reason for the heavy, filling but soft foods is that you will be taking medicines that should not be taken on an empty stomach.
If you are having oral sedation, please eat a good breakfast and take 2 tablets of Valium, 1 antibiotic and 1 anti-inflammatory 1 hour prior to surgery.
You will need to have transportation to and from our office and cannot legally drive for 24 hours after taking Valium.
If your treatment includes I.V. sedation you will be given separate written instructions.
